   叶黄素是眼睛视网膜和晶状体内唯一被发现的类胡萝卜素。叶黄素能够预防眼睛光损伤，防止因叶黄素缺失引起的视力退化和失明症，以及因机体衰老引发的心血管硬化、冠心病和肿瘤疾病。 是眼睛视网膜、黄斑不能缺失的主要组成物质； 防止眼睛的生理结构和功能变异； 是一种强效的抗氧化剂，吸收紫外线、蓝光，根本化解眼睛光中毒； 具有血管扩张功能，改善眼底血液微循环，促进营养物质供应。广泛应用在化妆品、饲料、医药、水产品等行业中。
