Study Confirms Inulin’s Efficacy ROOSENDAAL, THE NETHERLANDS--Five grams of Frutafit inulin a day has a prebiotic (bifidogenic) effect in adult volunteers, according to data from a study carried out at Reading University’s Food Microbial Science Unit and published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition. The study, initiated and financed by Sensus, confirms the ability of the prebiotic fiber Frutafit inulin to boost the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut works at both low and high doses without side effects.
“Maximum gut health benefits (bifidogenic effects) can already be achieved with five grams of native inulin a day”, states Dr. Diederick Meyer of Sensus.
In another recently published study performed by the Korea Food and Nutrition Foundation and supported by Sensus, native Frutafit inulin was shown to have a prebiotic (bifidogenic) in formula-fed babies. Inulin may therefore be a useful ingredient in infant food formulae. The complete study was recently published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
